"Glorious Old Norfolk"

Your self-guided tour of the Eva Brook Donly Museum and Archives includes our famous "Glorious Old Norfolk" Gallery. Built as part of the 1967 addition to the original Mulkins Home, the '67 Gallery contains a comprehensive overview of Norfolk County's historical events and people. A series of displays allow visitors to travel through time, from the days when First Nations peoples roamed the land, to the pioneer days when United Empire Loyalists settled the area, through the bloody days of the War of 1812, and into the 20th century.

The pictures below provide a small sample of what you will see. The portrait is that of W. Edgar Cantelon, Norfolk's popular and prolific painter of our county's scenes until his death in 1950. Estimates are that he created between 8,000 and 10,000 works of art in his lifetime. The Museum is fortunate to possess more than 400 of his works and there is always a good selection on display.

The General Store was THE place to shop in the 19th century.	First Nations peoples have roamed the countryside for 10,000 years; this display features prehistoric stone tools as well as early trade goods.
